My family feels that rail transit potential is too valuable to sacrifice for a yet-to-be designed and approved trail only direction. Indeed, the RTC plan is wider at key points than the trail only proposal and it can begin construction 8 years sooner and without abandonment of the currently legally operational rail line which can be upgraded and moving passengers for less than $100MM, new track and stations and rail vehicles included per Scenario J of the 2015 study.
The business council originally supported the rail with trail design.
