County approves Sustainable Santa Cruz County Plan; final SCCBC correspondence

On October 28th, the County Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 in favor of adopting the Sustainable Santa Cruz County Plan. The Plan will provide guiding principles for land use, zoning, transportation and infrastructure improvements throughout the County’s urban core. SCCBC served on the Plan’s advisory committee for the past 1.5 years. Additionally, each step of the way, from the Planning Commission to the Board, SCCBC has submitted and voiced comments in support of the Plan’s vision.

Our final correspondence to the County was through the following letter that was submitted to the Board of Supervisors ahead of their October 28th hearing on the matter:

SCCBC letter re: Sustainable Santa Cruz County Plan – October 28, 2014

Now that the Plan has been accepted by the Board, the detailed work begins. Beginning in early 2015, County Planning staff will develop a list of specific policy recommendations related to the Plan’s vision. These specific policies will come before the Board of Supervisors next summer for consideration. SCCBC’s Government Affairs & Economic Development Committee will continue to participate in the public process. Updates to follow.
